To set ourselves apart from other practices, we have recently invested in modernizing both practices and provide state of the art facilities combined with modern, comfortable surroundings making our practices desirable for both patients and staff alike. We have been established for 20 yrs. and serve over 10,000 patients in the local and surrounding communities.

We have recently undergone renovations and added 2 surgeries to Holytown and 1 to Newarthill allowing us to take on more patients and provide a more spacious environment to our existing patient base.

James McManus

Originally from Blantyre, Jim graduated from Glasgow University in 1994 and went on to work in practice for a year in Montrose. A year later Jim joined the Holytown practice as an associate and became a partner in 2003.

Jim enjoys most aspects of general dental practice and has a particular interest in training new dentists and managing anxious patients.

Away from the surgery, he has been married for 20 years and has one daughter. He likes food, football, good weather, reading, cycling, films, guitars, music, concerts, gardening and other stuff.

Lee-Anne Scott

Qualifications: BDS Glasg 1999

Lee-Anne Scott qualified with Commendation from Glasgow University in 1999. From here Lee-Anne worked as a house officer at Glasgow Dental Hospital developing skills in the Prosthetic and Oral surgery departments.Lee-Anne completed her training year in Northampton gaining valuable experience in general dental practice. From here she joined the then called Holytown Dental Practice in 2001 and became a partner in 2003.

Lee-Anne became a certified trainer for newly qualified dentists in 2006, and with James has enjoyed training many of the present associates.

Lee-Anne enjoys all fields of general practice and holds a keen interest in oral surgery, cosmetic dentistry and treatment of anxious patients.

In 2010, Lee-Anne completed a course in Botox and dermal fillers and has since completed several more, she enjoys a keen interest in this field.

Out of work, Lee-Anne enjoys spending time with her family, cooking and travelling.

Michelle Meehan

Hi I’m Michelle, I first started my career as a Qualified Dental Nurse in 1994 and joined McManus and Scott Dental Surgeries in 2000. As a Senior Dental Nurse I assisted with implementing changes required for the practice to become a training practice for newly qualified dentists and and I also assisted in setting up the Newarthill practice in 2003. I then progressed to take on the role of Practice Manager in 2004 and I oversee the daily running of the practice and helped manage with the recent refurbishments and extensions to both practices.

I completed an HND in Practice Management in 2010 and I have a keen interest in developing the marketing and advertising side of the business. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with family and friends, reading and keeping fit.

Amanda Brown

I began my dental nursing career in 1996 and I started working with McManus and Scott in 1999. Over the past 15 years with the practice I have worked in both reception and in the surgery. I was also one of the first nurses to deliver the Childsmile program in the Lanarkshire area. At present I undertake the role of Deputy Manager and Senior Receptionist at both Holytown and Newarthill practice’s.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family and travelling abroad.

I previously worked in a family orientated practice for one year prior to joining McManus & Scott Dental Practice in 2014. I enjoy all aspects of dentistry and can provide CFAST Teeth Straightening for my patients. Outside of dentistry I am an enthusiastic tennis player and regularly keep fit at the gym, which is just as well as I enjoy going out for dinner whenever I can! Apart from tennis, I enjoy walking my dog Molly and hill climbing.

I graduated from Glasgow University with commendation in 2013. I enjoy all aspects of general dentistry but I have a particular interest in aesthetic and cosmetic dentistry and I have also recently completed the course for the CFAST Adult Cosmetic Orthodontics System.

In my spare time I like to keep fit and travel as much as I can. I am also fluent in English and Kurdish.

‘I qualified from Glasgow University in 2015 and since then have enjoyed practising all aspects of general dentistry. Being one of the most recent additions to the McManus and Scott team, I have found it to be a welcoming and friendly family practice with a wide scope of treatment options for me to undertake.

I find helping nervous patients to overcome their anxieties and get to a stage where they are happy with their smile to be one of the most rewarding aspects of my job. Outside of the practice, I enjoy mountain climbing, travelling and just about anything.’

I am always keen to broaden my skills and plan to undertake more post-graduate training in future. I enjoy all aspects of dentistry and love the variety that this job brings. Outside of work I enjoy socialising with family and friends, eating out, and travelling.

My name is Gillian Marshall. I qualified in Glasgow in 2005 as a dually qualified Dental Hygienist/Therapist – awarded by the Royal College of Surgeons – one of the first in Scotland. I currently work at the practice one session a month on a Saturday morning. My main dental interests include treatment of periodontal disease and paediatric dentistry.

In my free time I enjoy spending time outdoors doing watersports activities such as rowing and kayaking.

Gerard Skeffington

Qualifications: BDS Dund 2004, MFDS RCS Edin 2007

Gerard Skeffington qualified from Dundee University in 2004. Following graduation he completed his training year at McManus and Scott Dental Surgeries in Holytown. After his training year, Gerard further developed his skills at Manchester and Nine Wells hospital as a senior house officer. Gerard has been studying implant training since graduation and has completed several courses.

Gerard works at our Newarthill practice and has special interests in implants and smile design based aesthetic dental procedures.

I Graduated from the University of Dundee in 2016 with Honours and then spent time working in general practice in Edinburgh. Having recently moved West, I am really enjoying getting to know all of the staff and patients at McManus and Scott.

I enjoy all aspects of dentistry, but in particular, helping anxious patients to overcome their fear of the dentist.

In my spare time I enjoy just about anything to do with sport, playing football on a weekly basis and following Newcastle United and Glasgow Warriors.

After qualifying, I completed my Vocational Training in the Dennistoun area of Glasgow, and gained experience in the treatment of anxious patients including those under Sedation. I then went on to work independently in a dental practice for 3 years in the north of Glasgow.

I joined the team at McManus and Scott in Newarthill in September 2017. I enjoy all aspects of general dentistry, particularly working with composite resin (white fillings) for an aesthetic result – I’m a bit of a perfectionist!

Outside of dentistry, I enjoy travelling, anything food-related, crafting, and time spent with my family and friends.
